Mr. Alan Franklin “Al” Shafer, 42, of Hagerstown, passed away suddenly, Friday, October 9, 2020, at his residence. He was the husband of Mrs. Amber M. Starr, whom he married in 2009.
Born June 26, 1978, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Sharon L. Shafer of Hagerstown. He was a 1996 graduate of South Hagerstown High School.
Alan had many jobs, such as security, DJ, school bus driver, but one of his favorite jobs was working for his family at Collins Appliance Service, Hagerstown.
Alan loved doing anything that involved family time. Spending quality time with friends and family is what made him happy. He had a passion for music; and being able to DJ for friends and family to celebrate birthdays and weddings always made him smile.
Besides his wife and parents, Alan is survived his children Christopher and Madison Shafer; as well as by many aunts, uncles, and cousins that he loved dearly.
Friends may visit Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 East Antietam Street, Hagerstown, on Saturday, October 17, from 2:00 to 7:00 PM. A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 19, 10:00 AM, at Rose Hill Cemetery, 601 South Potomac Street, Hagerstown. Family and friends should gather inside the main gates for a procession to the grave site. Pastor William R. Devilbiss will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Judes Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
