David Gregory Wetzel

Mr. David Gregory Wetzel, 66, of Martinsburg, West Virginia, died Sunday morning, October 29, 2023, at ALIVE Assisted Living, Mount Airy.  He was the loving husband of his wife to whom he was truly devoted, the late Antoinette “Toni” Deeb Wetzel, who preceded him in death in 2007.

Born January 8, 1957, in Baltimore, he was a son of the late Thomas David and Delores Dorothy Little Wetzel.  He was a Reservist with the United States Navy.

David worked his career in Washington, District of Columbia, as a Security Guard.

He was a Baptist by faith, and had attended Broadfording Church, Hagerstown.  He was a gentle soul with a big heart.

David had a green thumb and enjoyed growing vegetables and flowers, often sharing the “fruits of his labor” with family and friends.

Surviving are his siblings Cathy Gray and husband Miles of Martinsburg, Alan Wetzel and wife JoAnn of Kentucky, and M. Scott Wetzel of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, November 1, beginning at 10:30 AM, and until services begin at 11:00 AM, at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 East Antietam Street, Hagerstown.  Rev. John D. Woullard, Pastor of Shenandoah Bible Baptist Church, Martinsburg, will officiate.  Interment will follow in Broadfording Church Cemetery, Hagerstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Wetzel’s name to Martinsburg Christian Academy (MCA), 2247 Williamsport Pike, Martinsburg, West Virginia  25404.
