Dixie Livingston Cunningham

October 1, 1945 — May 2, 2016

Mrs. Dixie Lee Bussard Livingston Cunningham, 70, of Smithsburg, died suddenly Monday afternoon, May 2, 2016, at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown.  She was the wife of the late Harry Lloyd Cunningham, Sr., who died in 2007.

Born October 1, 1945, in Butler County, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Ross and Bertha Alice Wiles Bussard Rimer.  She was a graduate of Frederick Community College.

Mrs. Cunningham was retired from Kemps Bio Technology, Frederick.

She may best be remembered for her love of life and living it to the fullest.  She had a great sense of humor and she was a very matter of fact lady who would "tell it like it is."  She also had great compassion for mankind and animals.

Mrs. Cunningham was the matriarch of her family, whom she loved dearly, and felt the duty to keep everyone in line.   Surviving are five children, Virginia Livingston of Myersville, Laura Graham and husband Danny of Smithsburg, Michelle Davis and husband Brian of Hagerstown, Thomas Livingston of El Mirage, Arizona, and Robin Richner, also of Hagerstown; eight grandchildren, Derrik Graham and wife Christine, Trevor Cannon, Daniel Carlsen, Jordan Savage, Kris Richner, Ethan Livingston-Beachy, Danielle Richner, and Nicole Davis; and a great granddaughter, Rosalyn Graham.

Besides her husband and parents, Mrs. Cunningham was preceded in death recently by her brother Bernard Bussard, and grandson, Keith Livingston.

The Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, Hagerstown, is handling the arrangements.  There will not be visiting at the funeral home.  Graveside inurnment for Mrs. Cunningham and her brother Bernard Bussard, will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, beside St. Paul's Community Church, Chicora, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, May 21, at 1:00 PM.  The Rev. Ken R. Tack will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, because of her love for animals, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Mrs. Cunningham’s name to the  Humane Society of Washington County, 13011 Maugansville Road, Hagerstown, Maryland  21740.
