Mr. Jack Alvin Bowers, 95, of Hagerstown, died Sunday, April 13, 2014, at his residence. He was the husband of Mrs. Ella Geraldine Bowers, who preceded him in death in March, 2008.
Born April 10, 1919, in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Clyde Alvin and Edna Varden Rockwell Bowers.
Jack graduated Mercersburg High School in 1938.
He was the President of Hagerstown Terminal, Inc., which was the agency for the Greyhound Bus Lines from 1955 to 1983. Prior, he was the President of Potomac Motor Lines and Bowers Bus Lines.
Jack was a member of Christ's Reformed Church United Church of Christ; and Blue Ridge Bus Retirees Club.
Surviving is his daughter Susan C. Bonebrake and husband Dennis of Greencastle, and sons, Donald C. Bowers and wife Jacquelyn and Rodger F. Bowesr and wife Andrea, all of Hagerstown; as well as by six grandchildren, John, Jeff, Wesley, Christina, Justin, and Whitney; and eight great grandchildren, Allyson, Andrew, Grace, Caroline, Rachael, Bella, Desiree, and Dejza.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 17, 11:00 AM, at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 East Antietam Street, Hagerstown. The Rev. Greg R. Messerole will officiate. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
