Juanita M. “Nita” Vance, 75, of 938 Pope Avenue, Hagerstown, died Friday, September 30, 2011, at her residence.

Born December 31, 1935, in Harrisonburg, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Irene Natlee Beach Light.

She was preceded in death by her husband William Alfred Vance on March 1, 2008.

She was a graduate of Hagerstown High School; and retired from Statton Furniture Company.

Nita was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church and Serendipity Sunday School Class.

She enjoyed playing bingo, going to Charles Town, and bowling with the Coca Cola Bowling League Wednesday Night Women’s League and the Monday Night Major Bowling League.

Nita is survived by two daughters Lonnie R. Bartles and husband John of Maugansville, and Gayle M. Vance of Hagerstown; grandchildren Matt Bartles and Courtney Blair; sisters Doris J. Spalding and Shirley A. Gardner, both of Hagerstown; as well as in-laws Claudene Harbaugh, Gladys Sullivan, and Richard, Lee and Charles Vance; and special family members, Laura O. Jones, Tammy J. Spalding and Helen M. Rice.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Lenford Beach and sister-in-law Barbara Beach.

The service will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 5, at the Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 East Antietam Street, Hagerstown. The Rev. Kenneth Fizer will officiate. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, Maryland 21742.
