Mr. Lloyd G. “Buzzie” Cunningham, 88, of Greencastle, died early Wednesday morning, October 25, 2017, at his residence. He was the husband of the late Nancy Ann Custer Cunningham, who preceded him in death December 7, 2001.
Born April 5, 1929, in Clear Spring, he was the only child of Harry Brant “Hattie” and Ruth Helen Weaver Cunningham. He attended Greencastle High School; and was a veteran of the United States Army who served during the Korean War.
Buzzie owned and operated Cunningham’s Body Shop and 24 Hour Towing, Greencastle; a long time established business continuing to serve Greencastle and the surrounding area.
He was community minded; always ready to extend a helping hand.
Buzzie was a 40 year member of the former Grace Brethren Church, Hagerstown; and currently a member of Greencastle Church of the Brethren. He was also a member of Gideons International; and Rescue Hose Company #1, and Harry D. Zeigler Post 6319, Veterans of Foreign War, both of Greencastle.
Surviving are his children, Brenda K. Cunningham, Joseph B “Joey” Cunningham, and Duane K. Cunningham and wife Debby; and his companion Annabelle Henry, all of Greencastle; as well as a niece, a nephew and numerous cousins.
The Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, Hagerstown, is handling the arrangements. There will not be visiting at the funeral home. The family will receive friends at his church, Greencastle Church of the Brethren, on Saturday, October 28, beginning at 2:30 PM. A memorial service will being at the church at 3:30 PM, with his pastor, Rev. Leon R. Yoder, officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
