Mr. Robert Eugene “Bob” Malott, 95, a longtime resident of Williamsport, and Ringgold, died peacefully, Friday morning, July 2, 2021, at Doey’s House, Hospice of Washington County. He was the husband of the late Mary Lois Malott, who preceded him in death on November 13, 2010.
Born April 21, 1926, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late David and Emma Bennett Malott. He was a United States Navy Veteran who proudly served on the USS Hancock Aircraft Carrier.
He was employed with Mack Truck, Hagerstown.
Bob was a longtime member of Ringgold United Church of Christ.
His family was his pride and joy. Anyone who met Bob loved him, and he loved them back.
Surviving are his sons, Douglas E. Malott and wife Andi, and Gregory E. Malott; his adoring grandchildren, Allison Duncan, and husband Jeff, and Christian Malott; as well as great grandchildren, JD and Bowen Duncan who fondly referred to him as their Grandpappy and whom they loved very much.
Bob was one of seventeen children in his family and is survived by siblings Philip G., and Franklin D, Malott as well as Norma Rae Cian, Wilma J. Statzman, and Barbara Ann Baker; his sister-in-law Pat Reecher and the entire Reecher family, who offered many meals and support; the Coss Family; and devout fully, faithful friends Valerie and Jake Benchoff who helped him and his son and during his convalesce.
The family will receive friends at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 East Antietam Street, Hagerstown, on Saturday, July 10, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be Sunday morning, July 11, 10:00 AM, at the funeral home, with Hospice Chaplain Duane R. Musgrove offering prayers. Interment will follow in Ringgold Cemetery, Hagerstown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Malott’s name to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, Maryland 21742 to benefit Doey’s House; or to his church, Ringgold Church of Christ, 14420 Barkdoll Rd, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
