Mrs. Virginia May “Ginny” McClelland, 90, of Hagerstown, Md., went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014, while under hospice care at Country Meadows Assisted Living in Frederick, Md.
She was the wife of the late Horace McClelland, her husband of 46 years.
She was born Nov. 24, 1924, in Terra Alta, W.Va., to the late John and Mabel Pingley.
She was a very active member of the First Baptist Church in Hagerstown, where she taught Sunday school.Ginny worked for many years in retail at Hagerstown clothing stores. She and her husband rented rooms in their home to people for many years and formed many friendships. She was very generous and genuinely cared for family and friends.
Ginny is survived by her brother, Robert L. Pingley and wife, Agatha, of Clinton, Mich.; her sister, Alice Smith and husband, John, of Frederick; her sister-in-law, Pat McClelland; foster son, Gary Michaels of Hagerstown; and seven nephews and seven nieces.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her twin brother, William Pingley and his wife, Lucille; brother, John C. Pingley and wife, Helen; and infant sister Myra Jeanette.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 6, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Andrew Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown. Funeral services will follow the visitation and begin at 11 a.m. Her pastor, the Rev. Thomas C. Smith, will officiate. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
